This mess of a movie is actually a prequel to the Assassin's Creed series.
Ator, known as Ator the Eagle, is a Conan-wannabe who espouses self-determination and knowledge, fighting to stop a philosophically-inclined tyrant trying to take over the world using a piece of hyper-advanced technology called the "geometric nucleus". After much adventure, misadventure, generally blundering around, and then inventing the hang glider, Ator triumphs. The movie ends with footage of a nuclear explosion and narration that states the "geometric nucleus" was destroyed because mankind wasn't ready for its power.Ator could very well be a (not particularly competent) proto-Assassin, the "Mean John Saxon-y Guy" (as Joel and the bots describe the bad guy) could very well be a (again, not particularly competent) proto-Templar, and the "geometric nucleus" could definitely be one of the Pieces of Eden. That last bit, combined with some of the tie-in materials for the games having the Tunguska blast caused by a Piece of Eden being destroyed, would actually make the nuclear explosion at the end of the movie MAKE SENSE.
Ator is emotionally hung up on Sunya from the first film.
He just either finds it difficult to open up and express his angst, or he prefers not to during an emergency when it would be a distraction and disheartening to someone who came to him for help. That's why, if you missed the flashback, you'd expect from the setup that there would be some kind of romance between him and Mila, but all that happens is he tactfully backs out at the film's conclusion. And, c'mon, they only just meet in this movie and spend maybe three days on the road fighting random enemies together. That's not gonna be enough to make him seriously interested in her as a second love.
