WMG / Snow White

The entire story is a vicious circle
  • Snow White is a princess and her (step)mother is the Queen. The vain queen has a magic mirror that tells her that she's "The fairiest of all", until some day her beauty start to decline with age, and her daughter's flourishes. Then she tries to kill the poor girl, fails and get killed herself. This is the story we all know
    • But then, Snow White would inherit her mother's crown, and become a queen herself, gaining access to a magic mirror that tells her that she is the "fairiest of all". Until, just like the previous queen, her beauty start to decline and a new "Fairiest of all" appears in the realm. This new queen will surely become jealous
    • The Mirror was a corrupting force!!
      • There was a tumblr essay that reached a similar conclusion: Snow White is destined to become the Evil Queen.

Where was the king while the queen was off finding creative ways to kill his daughter?

  • The intro to the Walt Disney movie says he died. It was changed presumably to explain that very problem (he apparently is still alive but extraordinarily inattentive in the fairy tale).
  • She's a girl, why should he care? Also, the Queen gives him sex, while his daughter does not (we hope).
    • That's not realy fair. You can't accuse the King of being "okay" with his wife trying murder his daughter in the grounds that "she's female". I get they were sexist times, but men did care women's lives (in fact, they cared more about keeping women alive then men) especially when it's his own DAUGHTER.
  • There is actually a version of the story where he does everything he can to stop his wife, but it doesn't work. Happily, the King in the Grimm version didn't have to live through such a horrible experience.
  • Another version does give an explanation: In it, he's the King of England, & his wife's attempts to kill Snow White happen while he's off at war.

The Mirror secretly hated The Queen and was working on manipulating her into eventually shooting herself in the foot. It succeeded!
  • The main reason why The Mirror’s estimation of her beauty and how it compared to that of every other woman was such a big deal to The Queen? She was in a one sided Cargo Ship with The Mirror - in other words, she was in love with it!
  • The Mirror had long gotten fed up with The Queen’s vanity, clinginess and narcissism, HATED being the - er - object of her affections (or rather, of her self centred, obsessive infatuation) and it resented being a captive audience for all that and her twice daily demands for it’s validation and attention. Since the story of Snow White is supposed to be child friendly, it’s not mentioned that The Queen prances about in front of The Mirror doing ultra cringeworthy suggestive, “seductive” poses for it’s benefit, slowly undressing herself for it and other things of that ilk; all the while caressing it’s frame and wheedling at it, in what she thinks is a sultry, seductive purr, to tell her how beautiful and desirable it finds her. This squicks The Mirror big time, and makes it feel violated.
  • Witnessing The Queen’s hostility of and envy towards Snow White made The Mirror hate The Queen more than ever; it finally decided that “enough is enough” and started plotting her downfall.
  • The Mirror knew exactly how The Queen would react on being told that her stepdaughter was even more beautiful than herself; and being all knowing, it was also aware that The Huntsman had quite a well developed conscience, therefore would not be able to bring himself to actually kill Snow White.
  • The Mirror was, of course, aware of the existence of The Dwarfs and their cottage; it knew that Snow White had good survival instincts, and counted on her ending up finding shelter and safety with them.
  • The Mirror knew in advance what events would unfold when it told The Queen that Snow White was alive and well, and living with The Dwarfs.
