WMG / Sdorica

Go To

NOTE: WMGs may contain unmarked spoilers

Uzziah is a Watcher.
This is simply based on the fact that he is the only character in the story who is familiar with character minerals, proof being that he is the one who gave Aosta the character mineral the latter uses to animate Experiment MX46. Thing is, the only other characters shown to know anything about character minerals are the Watchers, such as the player character and Rei.

It is true that Watchers are supposed not to interfere with the history of the world, but what if...

Sdorica and Vendacti were both Watchers.
Sure, Sdorica and Vendacti feature in the historic lore of the game as a dragon and a knight who had a fight regarding human freedom. But as with many old legends, the details can get lost in time...

And speaking of being Watchers, note that those two commanded armies against each other? What if these so-called armies were brought forth by means of character minerals? Also, notice that the legend says that Sdorica kept humans immortal but enslaved? This sounds suspiciously similarto what we players are doing: Using character minerals, we keep the characters sort of immortal, with characters long dead (such as Shirley and Morris) being fair game to be summoned alongside still-living people, and under our thrall, just like Sdorica himself not giving humans their free will.

Going wildly off from that tangent...

Sdorica and Vendacti are still alive.
This is based on a few things that happens around the end of Sunset arc, namely, the alarming vision of hostile Rei, and the fact that she seems to want to hide something from the player character's Watcher, hinting that there is a rather unpleasant history there.

Going a bit meta from there, it seems a bit strange that the game is called Sdorica when the character with that name is already gone for a while, even though there are those who wish to revive them. Sure, there's a lot of works named after characters in their story where said characters don't make consistent appearance (just ask Metroid), but still, why would this game is named after a character that is known to be long dead? The answer: While there are those who wish to bring him back, Sdorica isn't exactly dead right now, but rather, he's somewhere alive but unable to directly interact with the story world... because he is the player character's Watcher, and Vendacti is none other than Rei, who obviously isn't the least bit happy about the prospect of her former nemesis awakening his former memories. There's also some supporting evidence from the Chapter 17 glitch, namely, a mention of Sdorica as a file name, and an alarming VENDACTIS_DIALOG_NOT_TRUE statement, along with an image of Rei in armor, further indicating that you and Rei are Sdorica and Vendacti.

  • This WMG appears to be on its way to being jossed: Sdorica is apparently an actual deity inside the story of continent of Vendacti, so much so that his body parts become important landmarks. Also, the player character is Vendacti; see below.
    • Counter-jossed: Rei has been lying in telling the Watcher that they are Vendacti; rather, Rei herself is Vendacti. The Watcher's true identity has not been confirmed yet.

Related to the WMG above...

The Watcher is in fact Vendacti, while Rei is a Guardian of the dragon Sdorica, doing his will and ensuring that Vendacti won't fuss about. In fact, the second chapter of Sdorica being Mirage might be a hint that humanity has never been free of Sdorica, and is just being controlled by Sdorica still, just in a more sophisticated manner.

  • Half-confirmed. The player Watcher is Vendacti, although there is no confirmation yet as to what Rei is.
    • Later jossed; while it is currently unclear who the Watcher is, Rei is actually Vendacti.

The Watchers, Dracontines and Uzziah.

Most of the Dracontines vital to the story are often supernaturally gifted beings. But in particular, Izumi alludes to being a higher form of life since he is currently the second person to be able to control monsters by speaking to and subduing them. The other known guy to similarly control monsters and summon them is Uzziah. Both are shown to know each other in the story with Uzziah instantly recognising Izumi in his demihuman form, implying both of them must have been close enough together at some point to know each other to that extent. So both of these characters definitely must have been from the same batch or organization but unlike Uzziah, there was a split somewhere and currently Izumi is confirmed to be working for the Dracontines. Where were these two originally from? Why do they have similar abilities? Also, if Uzziah was able to produce a character mineral, does that imply Izumi is able to do so as well? And since Izumi is mentioned to be way, way older than he looks, are some Dracontines immortal like the Watchers? In Mirage, we see Nikola who is long thought to be dead still alive and well among the Dracontines. Not to mention, both Dracontines and Watchers eerily share the term an 'elder' or 'elder ones' whom are never seen but always pulling the strings.

  • Specifically about Nikola, some fans have noticed and therefore drew conclusions from the fact that Nikola in Mirage sports a blue/violet mismatched pair of eyes. Only one named character in the game has that exact eye combination: Hyde, former disciple of Nikola, who probably calls himself Nikola to throw people off.

Lisa and/or her late family were actually mere servants of the actual Ortiz Aguilar family

It's a bit strange that out of the many characters who has Spanish-sounding surnames, Lisa is the only one who is pure human. Compare: Karen Arla Fernandez & Ned Garcia Alznar are lizard demihumans, Diana Juan Gomez is a lizard noblewoman, and Devious Lewis Marco is a snake.

My suspicion is that, due to Fantastic Racism against humans in the Desert Kingdom, Lisa's actual family were servants, or worse, slaves, of the real Ortiz Aguilar family, likely a lizard noble house, until the border wars killed them all leaving Lisa as the only survivor of the entire household. Whatever the reason is (childlike naivete, genuine liking to her master's family etc), she considers herself to be part of Ortiz Aguilar family, and that's what she told Sherlock when he ran into her.

Of course, this WMG has a debateable validity when we take into account Sanchez: Obviously a slave, yet carries a Spanish name.

Maria's mission

Astute players have uncovered a clue that Maria, the Robot Girl, is programmed to hunt down Sherlock. The purpose of said programming may actually have been hinted by the story: Izumi, one of the Dracontines, have obtained the blueprints of Rayzor, with Nigel and perhaps Yamitsuki being the only others in the know. However, Nigel & Yamitsuki likely won't have a good grasp about how to use that blueprint to build a Rayzor, whereas Izumi and/or his Dracontine cronies do, meaning that with that blueprint, they may be able to build any number of Rayzors and nobody can stop them because they don't know how it works.. So how does this relate to Maria's programming? Izumi knows that Sherlock knows how Rayzor works, and thus he can present a hazard to the Dracontines' plans should they deploy Rayzors and Sherlock can be used to dismantle or counter them. Thus, why they probably sent a note to their agents in the Machine empire to send someone to kill Sherlock; that someone is Maria.

What actually happened between Sdorica and Vendacti
Based on what happened in Atlas in the backstory, and what nearly happens in the Desert Kingdom in the current story, it would appear that Sdorica, or rather, whatever is left of him, is currently functioning as a seal to stop the Void from wreaking havoc on the world.

Looking back to the legend of Sdorica in the game's first opening cinematic, suddenly it looks like the eternal darkness is actually the Void. The world where people used to be immortal was also inundated with Void energy, which probably was consuming the world, and Sdorica, unwilling to let the Void destroy everything, arranged for his death which he then uses to stop the spread of the Void. Being a very powerful dragon, though, barely anyone could kill him, except Vendacti, who agreed with his idea that the Void must be stopped, and thus killed the dragon and used his body as seals to curb the Void, bringing light to the world.

  • Jossed. What actually happened was that when Vendacti killed Sdorica, the dragon's death ended up releasing the void. So it's the opposite of the WMG.

Uzziah is related to the Dragoneye Gem and the Dragon's Tooth... and not just because he doesn't want them tampered.
Taking note of Uzziah's ability to summon void monsters at will, Izumi & Devious calling Uzziah the Guardian, and the two of them not killing Uzziah when they have the clear chance, it seems that Uzziah is not just a mere dark mage with control of the void.

Given that the Dragoneye Gem and especially the Dragon's Tooth act as seals for the void, and the things being sealed by these landmarks include monstrous abomination that scared even the Dracontines, it seems that Uzziah is not just an ancient human, but rather, a living seal. This would explain his ability to summon void monsters (just metaphorically shift the seal aside a bit to release a few monsters), Izumi calling him a Guardian (a guardian, like a seal, protects something), and that they don't want him dead right away (killing him may break his seal and unleash unholy void havoc at wherever he dies at the moment).
