WMG / RWBY/Justice League

Go To

Clark is still from Krypton

Given the wide range of powers his "semblance" gives him, plus his preference to keep his abilities hidden from others, Clark, unlike the rest of the RWBY versions of the League, retains his mainstream origin as a Kryptonian, sent to his adopted world after the destruction of his homeworld as a baby. As for why his powers only work in sunlight, it's because he's deliberately or subconsciously holding himself back.

Starro the Conqueror is the Big Bad

Barely even a spoiler given what we know; Humans, Faunus, Grimm, and normal sea life are being mind controlled,the fish in #7 all have star symbols on their bodies, and, probably most important, he's the first villain ever faced by the original Justice League of America, which would make him a fitting Big Bad for the crossover. All that remains is speculation as to Starro's exact nature. Is he;

  • A starfish faunus with a powerful mind control semblence?
  • An ancient starfish Grimm?
  • Something leftover from the Age of Magic before the Brother Gods destroyed the first humans?
  • Still an alien?
  • Confirmed as of Issue 9: Starro is an alien entity.

Possible Sequels

If there is ever a sequel, it will focus on the heroes reuniting to confront RWBY versions of DC villains like Lex Luthor, Cheetah, the Joker, Black Manta, and so on, who will form the Remnant version of the Legion of Doom.

  • And another sequel will inevitably feature Darkseid, who's so evil that even Salem trembles before him.

The comic is foreshadowing Volume 9 or future storylines.
Spoilers for the end of Volume 8: Since Jessica and Clark confirm that aliens, space travel, etc. exist beyond Remnant, Volume 9 could reveal that within the show's canon, the people who fell in the portal dimension ended up on a different world(s) from Remnant, and we'll get lore about where the Gods came from (similar to how in Marvel, Thor and the other Nordic gods are actually aliens and Asgard isn't a literal realm but rather a planet). Perhaps the Gods also have had other "experiments" like Krypton, and either those worlds are still thriving or have faced destruction...

Additionally, the RWBY comics, even if they're not quite in line with canon, have had foreshadowing before, like introducing Willow a few weeks before her debut in the show.

  • Jessica saying that she gained a Semblance upon entering Remnant's atmosphere, just as Dust only works in Remnant's atmosphere, seems to lend credence to the "Dust and Semblances are remnants of humanity's ability to use magic" theory. Additionally, Ozpin says he devised something out of the Dust and the Semblances in order to raise the Watchtower just above the atmosphere — perhaps this something was his magic, seeing as we don't know yet if magic works outside of Remnant. Perhaps Volume 9 will also address this, seeing as we need to know if Team RWBYJ and Neo may not be able to use their Semblances and Dust in the other world and Oscar and Winter's magic may be able to help them return to Remnant.

Diana is foreshadowing Penny's storyline.
Spoilers for the end of Volume 8: Diana is just like Penny — both are humans with mechanical bodies, and they have Auras because they were given a piece of their parent(s)' Aura. However, there's an important distinction between the two:
  • Penny is made of a piece of Pietro's Aura, but as he explains, doing this every time he has to revive her makes him weaker because of Cast from Hit Points.
  • Diana is made of multiple pieces of Auras from her various mothers on Bird of Paradise Island. However, they all seem to be no worse for wear.

Now that Penny has been killed as a human but seems to still be with Winter via Aura, through Law of Conservation of Detail (Penny's revives being explained as being limited as long as Pietro keeps using Cast from Hit Points; Diana being an ancient version of Penny; Diana's mother could've just been Hippolyta rather than all of the Witch Warriors) along with the theme of The Power of Friendship and that Pinocchio has been revived multiple times (and Geppetto becomes healthy again), Penny could be revived by Team Remnant giving her pieces of their Auras, thus avoiding making anyone substantially weaker if only one person had done it by themselves again.
