WMG / No Need For Destiny

Jim Bader already came up with the reason for Mihoshi’s breakdown.

Given Ranma’s Berserk Button for arranged marriages it is highly unlikely that he would have allowed Mihoshi to be put in one. However in Reality Warped Kiyoni after discovering that Mihoshi used to be an aggressive go-getter out to prove her worth to the Galaxy Police by taking on the toughest and most dangerous assignments. She graduated at the top of her class and achieved high honors in all of her major subjects. She was a top-rated pilot, a first-rate crack shot and a skilled investigator...indeed, in every category the exact opposite of the girl Kiyone knew from first hand experience.

It turns out that Mihoshi had dared pursue one dangerous case too many. A rogue scientist—-a real Kagato wannabe—-had captured Mihoshi investigating too near to his secret lair and decided to "experiment a little" with the overly adventuresome policewoman. Mihoshi had endured three days of hideous experiments designed to explore her neural pathways in order to discover what it was that made her such an outstanding Detective, but in the end Mihoshi had managed to break free and turn the tables on her captor. Backup had arrived to find Mihoshi idly playing with biochips taken from computer that had been used to record her "test data," only she was treating them like domino-chips. She was rushed to the nearest infirmary for observation and was given a clean bill of health...at least so far as things went on the physical side of things.

Mentally, though, she had suffered a severe neurological trauma that had scrambled her synaptic relays and had reduced her to an almost childlike state of neo-infancy. Psychological counseling was immediately referred and the slow process undertaken to rebuild her personality and mental functions. They had managed to restore her to an operational state but were unable to totally clear up the randomly misfiring synaptic relays affecting her higher brain functions. Technically her brainwave scans were off the charts as far as mental activity, but so much of it was re-routed and convoluted that coherent thought patterns could not be fully reestablished. Mihoshi was mentally the age of a twelve year old yet still retained much of her knowledge and combat abilities, so with great reluctance (and in honor of her high record of achievement) the Brass had elected to return her to field service, hoping to let her eventually retire with honor so as not to embarrass the Marshal.

Oddly enough Mihoshi's record for outstanding arrests—-to the astonishment of nearly everyone—-continued to skyrocket, only this time she seemed to solve cases almost by a whimsy, blundering her way through cases that would daunt the toughest investigators, relying more and more on pure "dumb luck" to get her through situations where there was almost a zero percentage chance at survival.

This is a perfect explanation for Mihoshi someone experimenting on her in an attempt to discover the secret behind the Kuramitsu abilities only to awake latent abilities in Mihoshi gained from being related to an elder god as an indirect consequence of her mental aberrations. Mihoshi gained the ability to alter probability lines on a purely unconscious level, causing seemingly random events to work out in her favor, a survival reflex of which she was wholly unaware. This also would explain Misao overprotection of her as she went from an older sister that he probably looked up to and worshipped like a god due to how badass she was to someone he felt he had to look after.

There will be a Black Sheep of the Kuramitsu Clan.

This a line from chapter 6 while the next seven kids may all be completely human, I find it hard to believe that not even JUST ONE of them will be as talented as ANY of the parents?

One of the kids will turn out to be the black sheep of the family. They never fit in, and that will eventually turn him away from the family. In fact make the kid really turn out bad dispite Ranma and Nabiki's influence. Also have him eventually run away and denounce his family name. That way in an odd twist of fate he would run into Ryoko later in life seeing as he could be a Space Pirate. And if anything kicks off all the better, they wouldn't be blood-related either after all.

As for his character, I don't care what biolocal name you give him, but the name he takes up after disowning his family and going off on his own should either be Kurai (means: without light) or Genma (means: dark horse) which is fitting since he's the black sheep of the family. Now above all the children he should be the most talented for the Art, even surpassing Ranma in the aspect with his learning curse. Ranma has "Perfect Adaptability" any situation, any challenge, and he can always adapt to learn more and/or win. His son however should be a genius of combat, a purely instinctual fighter who doesn't have to think or plan, the full movement of battle is all he would need, no plans or stratagies. This would make his son quickly one of THE best fighters, thing is, he's not exactly all powerful like Chibi-Ranma so it would take him quite a while till he built up enough of that energy to truly become a threat, still I'm thinking that perhaps he could be like Brolly from DBZ, eh? Not insane like him of course but rather the way he becomes stronger. Every confrontation, every loss, every win, every challenge, if he's given enough time he'll match and then overpower his opponents, so taking him out quickly would be a good thing. His behavior should probably be the most reason for leaving, so really he should be completely opposite of Ranma in every personality aspect. Where Ranma is kind, he is cold; where Ranma doesn't hit girls, he wouldn't give a flying rats ass; where Ranma would save innocent people, he just wouldn't giving a flying rats ass about people he doesn't know. O course he should have a nice side as well, but only to the woman who opens him up, kay?

Ranma and Nabiki can't have the perfect life, and while the attacks that occasionally happen aren't good at all, they seem to have a very nice and LONG life ahead of them. There HAS to be at least one MAJOR glitch and this son who would be the black sheep of the family would be it!

Plus, this kid could really get some of the story going. Besides meeting Ryoko, he could also end up seeing Kagato and the bounty hunter chick and with that said, maybe even some back story with Mihoshi and her partner (I forget her name). Of course he would eventually come back into the picture all nice... Like Vegeta... which on second though isn't really all that nice seeing as he's more partial to killing than everyone else but he IS one of the "good" guys.

  • Hell make him the youngest the one who already has to many siblings to live up to and desides... he just doesn't give a flying rat fuck! This would give a much needed grounded to the fic.
  • I challenge you to ask ALL of us readers whether the Kuramitsu fanily needs a "black sheep" or not. Hell, doesn't even have to be a guy... though I would rather it was.
  • It turns out the black sheep is Minami Kuramitsu
