How does the Soup Faerie run the Soup Kitchen all by herself, preparing massive amounts of soup and feeding countless hungry pets, day in and day out? The answer: she doesn't. Young Faeries are sent down to work at the Soup Kitchen as a way of practicing their magic skills and doing community service, giving back to Neopia. It also serves as an exercise in humility, as some Faeries grow arrogant due to their natural magical abilities being superior to that of most Neopets.

* Air Faeries do the cleaning, and also use their speed to work as waitresses--no hungry pet ever has to wait long for a bowl of hot soup when the Air Faeries are on serving duty. (After one too many spills caused by overenthusiastic Air Faerie waitresses, the Soup Kitchen started serving soup in bowls with sealable lids.)

Since Air Faeries also ask for grooming items during Faerie Quests, perhaps they also offer grooming and bathing services to poor pets who have gotten dirty and need a wash.

* Light Faeries use their magic to keep the lights on and electricity running.
* Dark Faeries do maintenance work to keep the building running. Not much evidence for this, but if Delina likes to craft and tinker, maybe other Dark Faeries have an inclination toward it as well. Some of them also use their wicked senses of humor to cheer up sad pets.

Magic is infused into every aspect of the Neopian environment, and the lifeforms learned to absorb small amounts of this magic in order to adapt to the regions where they live. Since Faeries are more active in using their magic than the average Neopet, their appearances often change dramatically depending on where they have decided to make their home. Their wings are often the first parts of their bodies to outwardly change. This can also work in reverse: the Tainted Harris card has the text "The evil Faerie's very presence caused the plants and animals to twist into corrupt new forms."
