Max’s dad is a reflection who replaced his original self at some point.
Max’s dad has been living in the house for most of his life, and yet (at least in the episode) he claims he never saw anything strange there while growing up.
It seems unlikely Max’s dad could have gone so much longer without noticing the mirror than his son did. Maybe he’s lying, and he’s a reflection as well. Since he wasn’t near the mirror when it got broken, he wouldn’t have been affected by that either.
This raises another possibility: if the switch happened early enough, that would mean Lefty and (possibly) Max are human/reflection hybrids. Hybrids who still possess reflections of their own. Questions ensue…
