The Merchant is in fact Nyarlethotep in disguise.
- Both are voiced by Stephen Wayte, both are associated with mysterious green magic, and it is hinted at with the shared line of: "This...I like...BETTER."
The Merchant is evil.
- Just like just like Fontaine and SHODAN, the Merchant will only serve as Mission Control for as long as he has use for the player as his pawn. When the Countess is defeated, the Merchant will reveal his true colors as the real Big Bad.
- Honestly the best evidence against this is just that it would be too predictable, especially considering the aforementioned examples of exactly this plot twist in this game's inspirations.
