Elaine (in the OVA) is autistic.
She’s said to be mentally disabled and “animalistic”, as many autistic people are (unfortunately) described as, and she’s nonverbal. She would certainly be declared autistic if autism was more well-known in the 90s.
She may also be schizophrenic, and some of the extreme, Lovecraftian Gorn could be her hallucinations.
