The entire series takes place twice, the first time being in the episodes as they happen with Nick and Griffin, and the second time during the credits of the finale with the boys becoming The Bustos.

, but the main gist is that Busto 1.0 and Busto 2.0 were Nick and Griffin the whole time, attempting to warn themselves in the past after getting stuck in the Time Ring. Car Boys as a series occurs in two distinct "loops," where the first loop is Nick and Griffin adventuring and eventually falling into the time ring, and the second loop is the boys as the Bustos attempting to warn themselves, then reuniting in the time ring as the Beam NG.
