     Pre-Release Theories
Basim will touch an Isu artifact that reawakens his memories as Loki.
Whether it's by making contact with a Piece of Eden or while inside an Isu tomb, something will reawaken his memories as Loki.
  • Confirmed.

Basim has a History Repeats moment that solidifies him as Loki.
In "Valhalla," he tells Eivor he had a son who died. In Loki's case, he means Fenrir, though as Basim, he could have a son who gets killed by an Order member.

Basim is under interrogation.
After the end of Valhalla, the Assassins distrust him and want to look into his past to see, if he can be trusted. We will mostly spend in the modern day in an interrogation room where he will be asked questions and might get to see Shawn throw shade at Basim. How this will end remains to be seen.
  • Jossed. There are no signs of an interrogation in the game.

The Djinn represents Basim's locked Loki memories
Since it serves as a Suspiciously Similar Substitute to Eivor's Odin memories, it's likely that the Djinn is actually Basim's genetic memories of Loki hidden behind a mythological veil.
  • Confirmed. The djinn/jinni and Nehal are manifestations of his memories.

William Miles will be reliving Basim's memories.
This is all but confirmed in the Last Chapter update for Valhalla, but since speculative troping is not allowed this was placed here.

How Basim becomes Loki
Due to being Loki's Sage and similarly how Eivor fought Odin in their mind, Basim will fight Loki to decide who's going to take over the body. It’s possible that Basim lost against Loki and is now taken over by him, which would explain why Basim betrayed Eivor at the end of Valhalla.
  • Jossed, Basim and Loki's fusion is ultimately a lot more peaceful, and Basim considers himself and Loki one and the same.

We'll get an explanation of how and why The Hidden Ones became, or at least masqueraded as, the very differently motivated Levantine Assassins of Assassin's Creed I.
There a big disconnect between the intents and methods of the Hidden Ones and those we see from Altair and co. at the start of the first game. And that's even before getting into Al Mualim's machinations. I hope there's an explanation of how the former group became the latter one.
