Aeschylos did write the Prometheia, but instead of writing a new Satyr Play he revised his Prometheus Fire-Kindler.
Historical sources attribute only eighty-three plays to him, and his probable swan song, the Oresteia, had a Satyr Play at the end.Alternatively, the Prometheia was his swan song instead, and he died before he could write the Satyr Play.
