WMG / Adventurers!

Go To

Everything in the strip happens in the game.
  • We know that Adventurers! is being played a century in the future. By then several dozen Final Fantasies will have been released, RPG conventions will have carved their groove into a canyon, and several generations of consumers will have been weaned on TV Tropes. Adventurers! is what conventional RPGs must look like when the average gamer knows more tropes than Joss Whedon. Oddities like referring to CDs in one strip and to SNES graphics the next are intentional Anachronism Stew.
    • It could also be thanks to layers and layers of self-reference. The last strip establishes that it's a remake of a remake of a remake and so on in a chain going back 140 years.

Adventurers! is a relationship game.
  • Alternatively, the incredibly self-aware questing is so much fluff and the real meat of the game lies in making Ardam stand Karn while also seeing which characters one can pair with which. Or the game might work on both levels at once.

Gildward is trans

  • In an early strip, he claims to have been a princess who wanted to experience life. It's played as a joke, but one could read his backtracking as a coverup, if they wanted to.
