Voidpet is an indie, browser-based virtual pet game developed by Linda Shad and Ben Awad. The onus of the gameplay is focused on collecting, battling and caring for emotion-based critters known as Voidpets.
Voidpet contains examples of:
- Big Friendly Dog: Down Bad is very affectionate and loving by nature; after evolving, it begins to develop a canine appearance.
- Bond Creatures: A player's starter possesses a Soulbond with them.
- Elemental Powers: Voidpet energy types are based on the Five Phases of Chinese philosophy; water, fire, metal, earth, and wood.
- Exotic Eye Designs: Merry and Nostalgia have little star symbols in their eyes.
- Extra Eyes: All Voidpets end up with five eyes in their final stage. However, they only have as many eyes as their stage (eg: a Sad Three has three eyes)
- Quivering Eyes: Down Bad's eyes are large, watery and visibly shaking.
- Seven Deadly Sins: There are Voidpets for all seven of the sins. However, they sometimes wind up being redundant, such as in the case of Wrath and Anger, Envy and Jealous, or Lust and Down Bad.
- Starter Mon: The player is given a choice between four starter Voidpets — Sad, Anger, Anxious, and Envy.
- Swans A-Swimming: Sad evolves into something resembling this, albeit with four wings and no visible legs.
