Enjoy realistic driving in an open world.
Motor Town: Behind the Wheel is an open-world driving and exploration game developed and published by P3 Games and release to Early Access on December 17, 2021.

The game is an open-world driving game where the player can drive whatever kind of vehicle they desire and have the option to perform various vehicular jobs. The player has the option to drive passenger vehicles like taxi cabs, buses, or simply picking up hitchhikers. They can drive cargo vehicles such as pickup trucks and semi-trucks. The final version of the game also promises the ability to drive police cars, fire engines, ambulances, and tow trucks along with performing their field of jobs. Performing real jobs in game earns the player money which can be used to maintain their vehicles and buy and rent new vehicles. The player must also mind real-life issues such as being stopped by police, weather and road conditions, and having to refuel their vehicle. It also features two race tracks, one on-road and one off-road, and features the ability to race on open roads.

Tropes include:

  • Anti-Frustration Features: The game includes an auto-driver that can take over at any time.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: The game has a day-night cycle with an interval that the player can adjust. Traffic levels change realistically based on the time of day.
  • Product Placement: Even though the actual logos are not shown, all of the cars, vans, trucks, and buses are based off real-life models.
  • Unexpectedly Realistic Gameplay: The player needs to watch the road conditions as they drive, since different types of weather affect driving conditions. There are laws on the road and the player can get pulled over by police for not following them. Vehicles must be re-fueled at regular intervals and must also be maintained and repaired at regular intervals. Accidents cause damage to vehicles that must be repaired. The player also has to deal with AI drivers that drive in bad ways.
