- Animal Companion: The cat acts as the girl's guide throughout the levels. If the photos of them in the demo mansion level are any indication, they're good friends.
- Barefoot Captives: The girl first appears barefoot for the tutorial, where she is a statue. At the start of the second level, she dons a pair of boots she keeps for the remainder of the game.
- Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: If the girl is caught, she and the cat will simply be set back to the last checkpoint.
- Evil Is Bigger: The enemies in the game tower over the cat and the girl, looking like giants in comparison.
- Humanoid Abomination: The butler in the first level has the general look of a human, but their glowing red eyes and their bone-white mask, along with the dark energy constantly emanating from them, suggest they're something else.
- The Power of Friendship: This is a very obvious theme for the game. The cat and the girl have only each other to rely on, with everyone else either trying to imprison or kill them, and it's clear that they need each other as there are several tasks and puzzles that neither can do alone.
