Singing Christmas carols on a friday night, yeah!

The Holiday Mod is Friday Night Funkin' mod created by bbpanzu. As the name suggests, this mod is themed around Christmas and thus has Boyfriend sing Christmas-themed songs with his opponents.

The mod is split up into 2 parts. Part 1 has Boyfriend and Girlfriend go around caroling for the night, while Part 2 has them join Tankman to track down an aerial terrorist.

Song List

Part 1

  1. "Holiday" (Girlfriend)
  2. "Deck" (Daddy Dearest vs. Boyfriend and Girlfriend)
  3. "Santa" (Skid and Pump vs. Boyfriend and Girlfriend)
  4. "Plum" (Pico and Sunday)

Part 2

  1. "Feliz" (Senpai)
  2. "Hark" (Tankman)
  3. "You" (Mommy Mearest vs. Boyfriend and Girlfriend)
  4. "Demolition" (Tom vs. Boyfriend and Pico)

Bonus Songs

  1. "Holiday Classic" (Girlfriend)
  2. "Zanta" (Edd, Tom and Matt vs. Zanta Claws)

Tropes:

  • Adapted Out: Tord is the only Eddsworld character not to appear in the mod at all (not even as a cameo), most likely due to showing up in only two Christmas episodes in Eddsworld before being Put on a Bus. Although snippets of "Norway", one of his songs from Vs. Tord, are heard in "Zanta".
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • For his song, Senpai harbors zero rudeness towards Boyfriend, simply singing with him for the Christmas season.
    • Sgt. John Captain willingly recruits Boyfriend to take down the aerial terrorist without any sign of the uncaring douchebaggery he usually has.
  • Big Bad: Tom serves as the main threat in Week 2, as every song sans Feliz is related to stopping his rampage in some form.
  • Christmas Songs: All of the main songs barring "Holiday" and "Demolition" are covers of classic Christmas songs.
    • "Deck" is "Deck The Halls".
    • "Santa" is "Jingle Bells".
    • "Plum" is "Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy".
    • "Feliz" is "Feliz Navidad".
    • "Hark" is "Carol of The Bells".
    • "You" is All "I Want For Christmas Is You".
    • "Demolition" alludes to "Christmas Demolition", a rap sung by Tom and the others in "Zanta Claws 3".
  • Bait-and-Switch: In "Deck", Boyfriend, Girlfriend and Daddy Dearest are door-to-door caroling. At the first door on which they knock, Daddy Dearest is about to sing, only for the home owner to shut the door on them. The next house they visit, the owner lets them sing, allowing the song to start for real.
  • The Cameo:
    • In opening storybook cutscene, one of the kids getting gifts is Doxxie.
    • At the end of "Santa", The Eyes Of The Universe, a character from Spooky Month, appears inside the fireplace behind Skid, Pump, Boyfriend and Girlfriend.
  • Christmas Carolers: The setting of "Deck" has Boyfriend go caroling with Girlfriend and her father. Daddy Dearest mentions it's a family tradition, and that he'll have Boyfriend's hide if he screws it up.
  • Creator Cameo: bbpanzu appears among the background characters in "Feliz".
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The original holiday mod (a.k.a. Holiday Girlfriend) only had one songnote  and no plot. It also replaces a song from the base game, instead of being a separate song.
  • For the Evulz: The cutscene leading to "Plum" mentions that unlike Sunday, who's robbing the bank to give to the poor, Pico tagged along because he wanted to cause chaos and commit some murder.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: "Zanta" has Zanta (the opponent) on the right side of the screen while Edd, Tom, and Matt (the player characters) are on the left. The player's strum is also the only one visible, meaning the player won't know which notes Zanta will make them copy until it's their turn. Said song also comes with a "Taiko" difficulty which changes the strum lines and the appearances of the notes.
  • The Grinch: Tom, the aerial terrorist from Week 2 explicitly aims to destroy Christmas.
  • Heads I Win, Tails You Lose: Tom makes an offer to Boyfriend: if he wins, he gets to destroy the entire town, but if Boyfriend wins... he gets to destroy the entire town. Boyfriend agrees, since the whole rap battle's a distraction anyway while Pico shoots him down.
  • Mythology Gag: Edd's vocals in "Zanta" use a snippet from "Norway", a previous bbpanzu FNF mod song using an Eddsworld character, specifically Tord.
  • Nonindicative Name: Tankman's song, "Hark", has a name that would indicate that it is a remix of "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing". However, it is a remix of "Carol of the Bells".
  • Retraux: "Feliz" has a CRT TV-like overlay to it, referencing Senpai's status as an old school video game character.
  • Rush Boss: "Demolition" is only a minute and 20 seconds, but contains the only One Hit Kills of the mod.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Freeplay song "Zanta" is "Zanta Claws 2" recreated as a Friday Night Funkin' song, including the scenes with Zanta swapping hats with Santa, Tom shooting Santa, and Tom losing his eyes to Zanta by laser (only here, Zanta directly shoots Tom instead of aiming at Santa and Tom taking the bullet).
    • The final song of Week 2 references "Zanta Claws 3", namely Tom hijacking Zanta's sleigh and wrecking the town.
    • Completing the trilogy references, the first "Zanta Claws" is referenced earlier when Boyfriend and Girlfriend are abruptly saved from a missile by a Coca-Cola truck. Another truck follows shortly after to grab Girlfriend's speakers, replicating the gag where Matt doesn't get on the first truck with the others and a second miraculously appears for him to hitch a ride on.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Boyfriend speaks full sentences here.
  • Unexpected Gameplay Change: On Normal and Hard difficulty, certain sections of Demolition have the player use their mouse to control Pico and make him shoot the thrusters of Tom's sleigh. Fail to shoot said thrusters within a short time limit, and he will drop a missile that will cause an instant game over and force the player to restart.
  • The Unfought: Carol appears in the opening cutscene of Part 1, but she never appears in any of the songs.
  • The Voiceless: Matt in "Zanta" doesn't sing, nor does he have any lines.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Sunday, who decides to get money to give to the poor... by robbing a bank.
