"Operation Rassvet was a model of surprise.
It started as an intelligence operation and ended up becoming one of the most mysterious disappearences to these days. None of the members were found. Forgotten by the world, the last survivor is hiding in the shadows..."

Emerald Wasp is an Explorer Horror game by Banya, the creator of Deep Inside. It tells the story of Leonid "Leon" Romanovic Voronin, a university student who is dared by some "friends" to enter the spooky abandoned World War II bunker and retrieve a Purple Heart medal in exchange for being let into their fraternity. But the second he steps in the place, rocks fall, trapping him inside.

He soon encounters Archimede "Archie" Casarosa, a sneaky burglar sent by his boss to pick up some documents on the gruesome experiments that took place in the bunker. Archie decides to tag along and help Leon find a way out. In the process, the two are stalked by a mysterious soldier who wanders the ruins and wants them dead. The two will have to work together to find a way out as they discover the full truth behind what happened in the bunker.

This game contains examples of:

  • Authority in Name Only: Irena is the Queen of Project Belzebuub's wasp-like hive society. However, the position is basically just a figurehead's job, as she was blinded and crippled by the scientists so she couldn't escape.
  • Big Bad: The soldier who haunts the abandoned bunker and stalks Leon and Archie to kill them. He is revealed to be Belzebuub, a parasite possessing the soldier Bela.
  • Evil Overlooker: The soldier who haunts the bunker and tries to kill Leon and Archie is the only character on the title screen and stares menacingly at the player.
  • Fighting from the Inside: If Leon chose not to attack Bela in the clone room, the latter manages to seize enough control to desperately make some sign hands, signifying how he's actually possessed by Belzebuub.
  • Italians Talk with Hands: In an optional conversation in the Hideout, Archie claims that he gets teased by other people about this idea since he's Italian.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Queen Irena, though nothing but a corpse in the present, set in motion a plan to destroy the hive experiment she herself was nothing but a prisoner of.
  • Lovable Rogue: Archie has no qualms about lying, conning and stealing. But he's also loyal, wise, and is ready to help and protect Leon even with his own life.
  • Multiple Endings: 7 alternate ending and one true ending.
    • Ending 1 - I'll Take Care of You Forever: If Leon tries to attack Bela after he finds the clone room, he's easily dispatched. He's later assimilated by the wasps.
    • Ending 2 - Remember the Promise you Made: If Leon and Archie got poisoned by the wasps and Archie sacrifices himself to save Leon, he's assimilated by the wasps. Leon escapes the ruins alone and vows to find a way to save Archie someday.
    • Ending 3 - Until the Bitter End: If Leon and Archie got poisoned by the wasps and Leon refuses to get the antidote from Bela. Leon and Archie decide to hold hands and wait as they succumb to a slow death by poisoning.
    • Ending 4 - We're Going to Have so Much Fun, Leon: If Leon and Archie got poisoned by the wasps and Leon refuses to get the antidote from Bela. Leon and Archie decide to shoot themselves rather than succumbing to poison, but not before talking about happy things that they'll never be able to do.
    • Ending 5 - Scaphism, the Punishment for Regicide: Leon and Archie burn the Queen's corpse, but they run into an angry Bela. He kills Archie and captures Leon in order to torture him forever for what he did to the Queen.
    • Ending 6 - An Insect Attracted to the Deadly Light: If Leon failed to shoot Bela, he's decapitated by him.
    • Ending 7 - Time Fled so Fast Since Then: If Leon shoots Bela, he finds some notes revealing the truth about his birth, the Queen and Bela. While he and Archie manage to escape the ruins, Leon decides to keep the Purple Heart and tries in vain to tell the world the truth about Project Belzebuub.
    • True Ending - The Purple Heart: If Leon shoots Bela in the eye, it breaks Belzebuub's control over him. The three escape the ruins together and the truth about Project Belzebuub is exposed.
  • Orphan's Plot Trinket: Leon was left in a doorstop with the half of a dog tag. The other half belongs to Bela, who hoped Leon would return to the ruins someday and put a stop to what Irena couldn't finish.
  • Pineapple Ruins Pizza: Archie says he won't judge Leon for being gay, bi, asexual, or any sexuality... but he will judge Leon if he likes pineapple on pizza. If Leon does say he likes it, Archie is disgusted, and it actually increases Archie's death count, which will lead to one of the bad endings if it gets too high.
Leon: What's so wrong about pineapple on pizza?! It's just a flavor...
Archie: You don't get it, man. You can't just put pineapple on pizza and call it a meal!
  • Self-Made Orphan: Leon has the option to burn the Queen's corpse. Who turns out to be his missing mother, Irena.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Irena killed herself and destroy the bunker hoping to put a stop to the project. Not only the bunker is salvaguarded before she can do any damage, but Beelzebub is still around.
  • Scare Dare: The reason Leon enters the spooky abandoned bunker is to retrieve a purple heart medal as a hazing ritual by a fraternity he wants to join.
  • Wicked Wasps: The game takes place in a bunker infested with dangerous wasps, and was the site of an experiment that sought to force humans to live as a wasp-like hive society.
