A 1bit Metroidvania where you will find a big map full of hidden secrets
Astronite is a 1-Bit Metroidvania game developed by Dume Game Studios and published by JanduSoft and released on November 30, 2022.

Mission 2205 is the last big chance for the ancient inhabitants of Neplea. Long ago the inhabitants of Neplea discovered that a strange Entity lived in the core of the planet. They studied it carefully but were never able to decipher the riddle.

After a while, the Entity created a great army which ended up taking their home from the inhabitants of Neplea. Now it's Astronite's turn, an intrepid space adventurer who will have to do everything possible to expel the invaders from his planet once and for all.

The player takes on the role of the titular Astronite who must venture through Neplea and drive the army out. True to other games of the genre, more of the world opens up to the player to explore the more power-ups they receive.

Tropes found in the game:

  • Deliberately Monochrome: The game has a 1-bit graphical style with all white graphics over a black background.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: The Unknown fights like the standard "hands and head" template.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After Astronite gets imprisoned, Balach rescues him and thanks Astronite for helping him realize there's more to life thsn his duty as a guardian.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:Astronite and Yatli destroy the machines altering The Core, knowingly causing the cave to collapse in on themselves. Subverted when it's revealed that a rescue team came to free them from the collapsed cavern.
  • Metroidvania: A non-linear exploration game with plenty of hidden power-ups and secrets.
  • Nintendo Hard: The game has some serious difficulty spikes and is fairly stingy on save points and health extensions, not to mention RNG being a fairly persistent factor in enemy behavior.
  • Retraux: The game has a fairly retro style of gameplay with the option to play with CRT-style scanlines over the image.
  • Saving the World: Astronite must take the planet Neplea back from the army that has invaded it with plans to destroy the world.
  • Shout-Out: The Echo Rooms are challenges based on classic arcade games: Buster Bros, Arkanoid, Galaga, and Pac-Man.
