''Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits'' was one of the first titles to utilize UsefulNotes/PlayStation2 emulation technology on the UsefulNotes/PlayStation4.

* GutturalGrowler: Volk. Comes with the territory when you are a.) a wolf and b.) voiced by Wolverine himself, Steve Blum.

* TeensAreShort: Averted. Kharg and Darc, supposedly 17 in the game, look like twenty-something men.

* HotScientist: Tatjana. Having Cree Summer's sexy, sexy voice helps.

* AnAxeToGrind: Ganz, and possibly Volk. His weapon's rather unusual.

* WeaponOfChoice: Everyone has one. They get unique equipment parts to make up for it.

** UpToEleven with the Deimos. They're an ''entire race'' of 'em.

Each hero is also asked by one of the last remaining Sprits in the world to SaveTheWorld, and thus begin on an epic quest to do so, crossing paths multiple times and discovering some interesting secrets about themselves?.

* CastingAShadow: Maru does a lot of StandardStatusEffects and many of his special moves are Dark-aligned, but he's one of the nicest people you'll meet.

* GoodScarsEvilScars: Volk sports a scar over his eye [[spoiler: that he pretty heavily implies was given to him by either Lloyd or Paulette]]. It intensifies his badass aura.

** Volk's got it worse. Almost all of his battle quotes are spoken in an angry growl, and even on the rare occasion when he thanks his allies for helping him, it's easy to get the impression that he doesn't want to. One of his starting spells sums it up nicely:

* DetachedSleeves: Kharg's got them.

* PuzzleBoss: The Meshimgen. Each one corresponds to a specific party member, based on what illusion appears when they're attacked, and only that party member can destroy it. Everyone else will deal only one point of damage to it, and if they struck with a standard attack, the party member that made the attack will be turned into another meshimgen temporarily, attacking the rest of the party until they return to their true form. It's impossible to predict who can kill which meshimgen before they're attacked, making it all but inevitable that someone's going to suffer the consequences at least once.

* PuzzleBoss: The Meshimgen. You have to choose the right character to destroy each one, based on what illusion appears when they're struck. Pick the wrong one and not only will it do only 1 point of and the party member that struck it will turn into another one temporarily

* SchizoTech: The Dilzweld Army has rifles while the heroes wield swords, axes, and other medieval weaponry. Justified with the Deimos, who fight with magic while humans use them to fuel their technology.

** Delma, a Type A for Darc. It's very easy to see, given one of her quotes when healed. To be fair, it's pretty obvious that being a Tsundere is how Deimos ''flirt''.

** Darc also acts this way towards Lilia; helping her out yet denying it and making excuses.

* TwoLinesNoWaiting: It alternates between Kharg and Darc's narratives - eventually becoming one at the end. Even then, they overlap each other well.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Camellia, although it's kind of obvious when you first meet her. She gets better, and hotter.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Firbles are adorable. Pyrons, their [[EvolutionPowerup evolved]] form, are not.
