Adventure C: Ship of Doom is an Adventure Game by Artic Computing released in 1982 for the ZX81 and the ZX Spectrum, in 1984 for the Commodore 64, and in 1985 for the Amstrad CPC as part three of an eight-game series, which had its first three installments remastered for smartphones in 2020. The game has your ship beamed onto an Alien Cruiser, and you're told by Fred, your pet android, that it's on a humanoid slave mission, as its inhabitants seek humanoids and replace their brains with microchips and you have to stop them.

This game provides examples of:

  • Cruelty Is the Only Option: You have to cut the rope holding an android who was only trying to repair his ship.
  • Dedication: The intro states that the game is dedicated to Chris and Gaynor.
  • Doomy Dooms of Doom: This is the only game in Artic's Adventure series with "Doom" in the title.
  • Inventory Management Puzzle: You can only carry five items at a time. It's necessary to drop items that are no longer needed to be able to carry other stuff.
  • Night-Vision Goggles: When you use infrared glasses on a dark corner in a shady room, you see a square microbattery.
  • Random Encounters: There's a chance that you'll run into an alien once you open the door in the cold room after performing almost any action. You have to shoot him, but you will sometimes miss. He will try to shoot you, but he can miss as well. If you successfully beat him, more of them will appear.
  • Self-Destruct Mechanism: Once you press the large control button in the computer room, self destruction will occur 30 turns later.
  • Sexbot: You can enter an android pleasure room with a beautiful android girl inside.
  • Tractor Beam: According to the box, your ship was attracted to the Alien Cruiser by a Graviton Beam.
  • Unwinnable by Design: If you don't shoot the little girl in the cold room, she will strangle you later.
  • Useless Item: The empty glass in the galactic bar has no use.
  • Video Game Remake: The game was remade in Unity for smartphones in 2020, with all text commands removed and replaced with simpler buttons.
  • Where It All Began: To complete the adventure, you have to return to the alien air lock and enter your space craft, which is the first room you visit.
  • A Winner Is You: As usual for these games, you get one screen of text for winning and are told to cruise back to earth and play Adventure D.
