David Alexander Paterson (May 20, 1954) is an American politician who was the Governor of New York and is the first African American and second legally blind governor of a US state.
He previously served as Lt. Governor before becoming the governor of the state before Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned due to a scandal involving prostitution.
He was married to Michelle Paige, currently married to Mary Galda, and has two children with Paige.

Live Action Television- Saturday Night Live: Comedian Fred Armisen played him several times on Weekend Update, which has caused controversy as Paterson himself was upset by it as he thought it was playing up stereotypes of legally blind people.
