I mostly hang around YMMV and Video Game trope pages; the former to help myself understand the fandoms of the series I enjoy, and the latter because they're usually the better written pages, I've found

I don't do much, and that's why this page will be relatively short

• Pacifica's Law (also can be called "The Law of Heteronormitivity" or the "'But They're Only Twelve!' Law): Given an opposite-sex pairing and same-sex pairing for a character^* Assuming the race between the two love interests is the same. I mean, holy shit, have you seen how fans treat female black love interests? - whose gender preference is unknown - the same-sex pairing will require more "evidence" to be seen as credible as the opposite-sex pairing in the eyes of the fandom^** And don't give me "But yaoi fangirls!". When has that been used as anything but derogatory outside of 13-year-olds talking about themselves?.

• Sansa's Conundrum: To have a character or piece of media that you truly enjoy - but know to have serious flaws - constantly attacked in most circles of discussion, thus leading you to having to defend them constantly. Even though you feel their flaws are worth discussing (they are), this cannot be done due to a perceived notion that any flaw that the character/media may be used as an immediate dismissal of them by the discussion at large^* There are great difficulties regarding this issue's application, as it really relies on a sense of what's the "majority" opinion on a character, which varies like hell based on where you go and whom you perceive to be the majority. To use the namesake as an example, it'd be foolish to deem Sansa a universal punching bag on a site such as tumblr, where sympathies for her remain strong and abundant. However, it applies easily to her on sites such as reddit or the A Song of Ice and Fire fandom at large, where the opinions can be far more vile..
  • A corollary to the above, Tyrion's Conundrum^* or the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Conundrum, which inspired me to write this: Similarly, a character or piece of media that you enjoy is constantly glorified within majority circles of discussion - with their flaws being ignored or possibly glamorized - with other characters/media being ignored or demonized in order to support it. This leads to you having to focus on their flaws in your own discussion constantly, despite liking it, because you find this deification dangerous to the fandom's communication and appearance^** As with above, where you are can change what counts as the "majority discussion". Also a bit more relevant to this than the prior situation is time; to use Madoka as an example, people were over the moon when it finished premiering, but far more individuals could be found five years later willing to view it more questionably..

• Inverse Law of Uchihas: The sympathy of one's view on Itachi Uchiha is in a direct inverse relationship with one's view on Sasuke Uchiha. This law is unaffected by one's opinion of Madara Uchiha, who is simply awful, just awful.

• Sky Jumpin's Good Life-Livin' Rule #1: If you find yourself hating something that happens in a story, due to it being jarring with the overall tone of the series or it involves a character doing something unexpectedly heinous, try blaming the writer instead of the character; partially because it may give you more perspective on a character's actions relative to the narrative and themes of the story, but mostly because the character isn't fucking real and it's the writer's fault for all the shit that goes on in the story's universe.
