• Executive Meddling: The book was cancelled on short notice, meaning that Leah Williams only had issues 9 and 10 to conclude the book and several of its story arcs. Some parts of issue 10 were also altered without her knowledge, and she didn't find out until after the issue was released. Changes included shots of Prodigy's naked corpse, which Leah was strongly against.
• Screwed by the Network: According to Williams, when she proposed the Trial of Magneto storyline, Marvel loved it. However, they thought X-Factor would not be high profile enough to sell it and seemed to think she couldn't handle writing two books at once, so X-Factor was cancelled and Trial was given its own book.
• What Could Have Been: Had X-Factor continued, there would have been more additional plotlines:
  • After their climactic battle, Shatterstar and the Morrigan would end up being venerated as gods and become part of Krakoa's creation myths.
  • Siryn would develop the power to speak to the dead, suggesting that she might have become a new member of the X-Factor team.
  • Prodigy would pass the Californian bar exam.
