  • Invisible Advertising: WireWay was given very little advertisement. The one trailer for the game on Konami's YouTube channel currently has 36k views... and only 82 likes. The lack of advertising combined with low sales caused the game to quickly fade into obscurity.

  • No Budget: The game was made with a low budget. Many levels have similar designs and structure, enemies are reused in a lot of places, and the cutscenes are essentially slideshows with only one track that plays during all of them.

  • Stillborn Franchise: WireWay was a new IP released by Konami in 2009 (which was 14 years ago) but low sales killed any chance of their being another WireWay game.
