• Creator Backlash: In a Q&A video after season 2's finale, 9a13 states they do not like how season 1 ended. They wrote around the players siding with Rin out of pure curiosity, not expecting how pretty much every player made the choice to side with Marisa. This resulted in, in their own words, them rushing the ending. This would later result in 9a13 privatizing the first season until work began on season 2.
• Outdated by Canon: The circle cut girl, the design used by most fan depictions of Rin Satsuki, this series included, has been confirmed by ZUN not to be what Rin would've looked like. Though 9a13 doesn't really care what ZUN says in that regard.
• What Could Have Been: If the players decided against siding with Marisa. Rin would have killed Marisa crossed over into Gensokyo accompanied by Rene Latency after, the antagonist of season 2, and players would later have to choose to side with Rin and Rene to burn Gensokyo to the ground or with Reimu and Yukari to defeat the dastardly duo once and for all.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants:
  • As mentioned in the Creator Backlash section, season 1’s ending was written in a rush due to the players choosing to side with Marisa when 9a13 planned for the audience to side with Rin.
  • Aside from Rene's character and the Heaven's Gate puzzle, 9a13 was doing this for a decent chunk of season 2, sometimes even having puzzles created mear moments before releasing a video.
