Trivia / Walking With Dinosaur Fan Remakes

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Kind of. In his video about JPOG modded remakes (which predate this series), RickRaptor105 makes a self-deprecating joke about how he "hates whoever started the trend" of these fanworks.
  • Science Marches On: The entire reason these series exist is to show how much has changed since the original series was produced.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • In rickraptor105's series:
      • Kaprosuchus was considered for the lineup of Predator Paradise (the Kem Kem Beds). It was removed because 1. It's not known from the formation, 2. The lineup was already full and 3. It's introduction would have required a third animal added in as prey for it, for reasons rickraptor outlines in the description of the artwork.
      • Also from rickraptor's series, the episode Global Domination was originally meant to focus on the fauna of South America during the Miocene, and would've featured borhyaenids, astrapotheres and glyptodonts. However, the episode occurs around the time that many modern mammal groups were coming into dominance (from true carnivorans to proboscideans (elephants)), so he decided to divide it between the fauna of South America and North America, connected by the journey of a migrating pelagornid.
    • In WDGHK's series:
      • Triassic Europe was originally considered for the setting, but ultimately lost out to Triassic South America, as it gave the artist named cynodonts to work with.
      • The Time of the Titans segment was going to include Triconoloestes and land crocodilian Hallopus were considered for the cast, as were Ceratosaurus and Torvosaurus, but were scrapped both to give more focus to the existing creatures and because their prescnce would have been superfluous.
      • Sciurumimus and Compsognathuswere both considered for the Cruel Seas remake, but were discarded to keep the cast reasonably sized.
      • Originally, the predator of the Australian episode was the megaraptorid Australovenator, but due to it only appearing a few million years after the majority of the episode's cast had disappeared, it was replaced with a different megaraptorid that has not been officially named yet, but is commonly called The Lightning Claw.
      • The redone Giant of the Skies was meant to include Pterodaustro and Thalassodromeus, but both were scrapped for the sake of avoiding clutter.
      • Originally, the episode would have featured updating versions of ALL of the settings that were featured in the original version of the episode, with Caulkicephalus as the focus animal, and would have featured Baryonyx, Gastonia, Europejara, Iguanacolossus, Falcarius and Kronosaurus. Only Kronosaurus made the final cut, while Baryonyx was replaced with its relative Irritator.
      • Alamosaurus, Anzu, Ornithomimus, Troodon/Pectinidon, Titanoides and Pachyaena considered for this episode, but ultimately didn't make the cut.
