- Breakaway Pop Hit: "Twist of Fate" by Olivia Newton-John was nominated for Best Short Form Music Video at the 27th Grammy Awards in 1985. The song was the last of her 15 Top 10 chart-toppers. The song went to No. #4 in Canada and Australia, and to No. #5 in the USA. Billboard ranked the song at No. #42 on its Top 100 Singles of 1984 list.
- Executive Meddling: "Twist of Fate" was released just before the film. Fox replaced the movie's original score with instrumental versions of her chart-topping song.
- Working Title: Second Chance, Take a Chance and Twist of Fate, the latter of which was repurposed for the film's theme song.
