• The Cast Showoff: During their time on the show, Roberta Shore and Randy Boone were given several opportunities to show off their singing abilities; to the point that Decca Records released an album featuring the two in 1965.
• The Danza: David Hartman as David Sutton in Season 7.
• Put on a Bus:
  • The character of John Grainger (the then-current owner of the Shiloh Ranch introduced in Season 5) was abruptly written off as being "on business" following his actor Charles Bickford's death in November 1967.
  • Morgan Starr was written off the show due to the unpopularity of the character.
• Real-Life Relative: When John McIntire joined the cast during Season 6 to replace the late Charles Bickford as Clay Grainger^note brother of Bickford's John Grainger; McIntire's real-life wife Jeanette Nolan also joined the cast as Clay's wife Holly.
