• Dawson Casting:
  • Thirty-eight year old Hubert Gregg playing Prince John from ages twenty-three to twenty-eight.
  • Forty-four year old Patrick Barr playing Richard Lionheart from ages thirty-two to thirty-seven. Not so bad at the end but he is still a good decade plus older than Richard at the beginning.
  • Though Robin and Marian's ages aren't specified, Marian infers they're the same age, and dialogue indicates Robin was meant to merely be a young lad. There's a 17 year age difference between Richard Todd (born 1913, aged 38 during filming) and Joan Rice (born 1930, aged 21 during filming).
• Dueling Works: Came out the same year as Ivanhoe, which has Robin Hood as a Supporting Leader. Given the fact that Ivanhoe appears more often on TCM, it is pretty obvious which one won the duel.
• Underage Casting: Fifty-six year old Martita Hunt playing Eleanor of Aquitaine from ages sixty-seven to seventy-two.
