Trivia / The Scarlet Gospels

• What Could Have Been: A lot of plot points hyped for the book didn't make it in. Among them:
  • Pinhead's True Name and history is never revealed, his only other identifiers being Cenobite and Hell Priest. It is implied that his origin from Hellbound: Hellraiser II is not canon and that he's much older.
  • Harry never encounters Pinhead in childhood, only knowing him by reputation.
  • The Order of the Gash only gets a passing mention as a hopelessly corrupt order of Hell that Pinhead is using for his own ends.
  • There's no attempt to resolve the discrepancies between The Hellbound Heart and Hellraiser. Pinhead's characterization and appearance is solely taken from the latter. Although a Wild Mass Guess from The Hellbound Heart page speculates perhaps The Order of the Gash has had multiple incarnations of the same Cenobites. Which would explain why they appear differently from the books and the legend is of a position specific demons are meant to take up. Where yes Virginia, umm Harry, there's always been a Hell Priest with pins in their head. They are who he is. But when Frank Cotton opened the box, the mantle was in the possession of a more feminine member of the Demonation.
