• Fandom Nod:
  • Jonathan Sims (the character) is almost universally portrayed as vaguely South Asian-looking in fan art. His successor, Sam Khalid is explicitly of South Asian heritage and portrayed by Welsh-Pakistani actor Shahan Hamza.
  • Similarly, Alice "Daisy" Tonner was generally depicted as a tall, blonde, androgynous-looking, possibly Butch Lesbian woman. Alice Dyer is portrayed by Billie Hindle, a blonde trans-woman who's secure (or pragmatic) enough to lean into an androgynous aesthetic and plays Alice with a mischievous, boyish voice.
• Queer Character, Queer Actor: Like her voice actress, Alice is very much trans, having been known by the name Connor as a child.
• Reality Subtext: The second episode features a character suffering heavy dysmorphia, and the show is quite open about having a lot of trans actors and crewmembers who can likely relate.
