• Revised Ending: The paperback includes an alternate ending wherein Marco and Lankford kill each other in an Old West-esque shootout during the final court scene. Connelly admits in the preface that he felt the original ending was better suited to a Hollywood adaptation and just didn't work in the literary medium. With the benefit of hindsight, Connelly feels he made the right choice.
