Trivia / The Eternal Cylinder

Go To

  • Ascended Fanon: Initially, there was no name for the special resource that Servants drop when slain. The Devs, after listening to the community, gave it the canonical name of Chaos Amber, which was one of the more common Nicknames the fans gave it.
  • Content Leak:
    • The Achievements list for the game was partially leaked a few months before its release. While nothing major regarding the plot was released, it was confirmed that Liberators could be destroyed with Mixer Body bombs (while it was stated in this same list that Exonerators could be destroyed with bombs, this had been achieved and revealed via glitches while the beta was still out, while the Liberator wasn't even in the beta).
    • Several mutations had their names, catalysts, and functions leaked. Again, there were no major spoilers, but a few details slipped through the cracks.
  • Counterpart Comparison: Many reviews compare it to Spore and No Man's Sky, while fans and gamers have comparisons with The Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal and the Mathematician has often been likened to Attack on Titan. The environment also has drawn comparisons to Expedition.
  • Dummied Out: The beta included a fully modeled desert biome, but without glitches, you cannot reach it. It's been confirmed that the area will be accessible in the full game, though.
  • Troubled Production: One of the few examples of a game created during the COVID-19 Pandemic to Avert this, as the game did not experience any issues with development despite the ongoing pandemic at the time.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A teaser for the game was released four years prior to the beta. This teaser was titled "The Endless Cylinder", and surprisingly, incorporated nearly all the features of the final game such as the Trebhum, the Omnogrom, and the strange giant avocado-like flora and giant spiked snail shells that litter the landscape. However, the proto-Cleanser that appears is not part humanoid, but part elephant. Also, the overall savannah biome seems more barren than in the final product.
    • The later trailer that was released also depicts some creatures being slightly different, such as the Frozen Sklaa not having a dangling exposed heart and the Mathematician having a more-feminine body (with the small humanoid torso forming its right leg even having exposed breasts that were removed in the final version).
    • The devs revealed that one of the original minions of the Cylinder was a kind of walker entity with a tractor beam that was killed by feeding it meteors. Its body was comprised of parts from a boss in another ACE Team game, Zeno Clash 2. This entity was eventually recycled into the Liberator.
    • Concept art reveals that the Trebhum would've originally been able to scare predators by lining up to present a united front.
    • Hophopops were originally supposed to be colored red.
    • The developers admitted over a livestream that they wanted to animate Trebhum in Trebhum houses running for the hills if they were still in the house when the Cylinder was nearby, but never had the time to do so.
    • One of the cut bosses for the game was a crocodilian creature that players would have fought in an underground cave.
  • Word of God:
    • The first five things created for the game were the Cylinder, the Trebhum, the Omnogrom, the Cleanser, and the Mathematician.
    • The demo encompasses about a fifth of the full game.
