Trivia / The Descent Part 2

• B-Team Sequel: This one was directed by Jon Harris (who was the editor of the first) and written by James McCarthy, J Blakeson and James Watkins. Writer and director of the original, Neil Marshall, was only an executive producer.
• Deleted Scene: A handful for the second movie, mainly setting up the rescue team of cavers. Oddly enough, all of the scenes are included as a single continuous chapter with no commentary.
• Uncredited Role: Mac McDonald as Mayor Caplan.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The planned opening would have compromised the differences between the endings of the UK and US versions of the first film; Sarah would follow a vision of her daughter into an abyss, and end up in a lake that would take her outside of the cave. This had to be scrapped partly because Molly Kayll, who played Jessie, had aged a bit too much in the four year gap.
  • The girls from the first film were planned to feature in hallucinations, flashbacks and dreams. However, in the final film they only appear in excerpts from Holly's video camera.
  • Rios was originally going to be a clinical psychologist, but was changed to a cop.
