* TheShowMustGoOn: According to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuqqRnej8vo Ross Lynch Reads Thirst Tweets]], after stepping on a pool filter the night before while with some friends, Ross ''lost several toenails'' but still did the dance of ''Cruisin' For A Bruisin'', despite being in pain.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: Motorized surfboards are about as old as what ''Wet Side Story/Lela: Queen of the Beach'' would be.

* PoliticallyCorrectHistory: There are more non-white characters in the ''Wet Side Story'' movie in secondary roles than you'd expect for an early-60s beach movie.

* ThrowItIn: In the first movie, Brady wasn't supposed to be part of 'Cruisin' For A Bruisin'' at all, but after the director saw Ross Lynch's dancing last-minute, they decided to rewrite the scene to have Brady in it. If you pay attention, you can hear Ross' voice during the first chorus before his first verse starts, signifying that this was a last-minute change, as if it were something in there from the start, they probably would've edited Ross' voice out of the mix for that one. It fits so well in-universe, though, that it makes you wonder why that wasn't the plan for the start.

* TheOtherMarty: For the soundtrack to the second movie, the last song, 'That's How We Do,' a male actor/singer says, "And the Wiggle Worm," where as a female actor/singer does for the movie for some reason.

* FakeAmerican: Maia Mitchell is Aussie.
* InMemoriam: The film is dedicated to former Mouseketeer and Disney Legend Annette Funicello, who starred in many teen beach films during and after her time with Disney.
* NonSingingVoice: In the first movie, John DeLuca was dubbed over by Jason Evigan, as they originally wanted him to have a more Elvis-esque voice when he sang, as you can hear. Like Zac Efron before him, though, they let him sing his parts in the sequel. Ditto for Garrett Clayton, whose singing was dubbed by country singer Spencer Lee in most of the first movie's songs the character sings in.

* DawsonCasting: Many of the extras at the high school in the second movie obviously are at least in their mid-20s. Many of the bikers and surfers as well. Gets kinda ridiculous with the guy who has braces, as well as the girl bassist and the woman who says, "it's pretty cool how you wail on the bass" to her.

* PoliticallyCorrectHistory: There are more non-white characters in the ''Wet Side Story'' movie in secondary roles than you'd expect for an early-60s beach movie. Not that it really detracts from the movie any.
