• Creator's Favorite Episode: Tommy Kirk considers the film his favorite out of all the Disney movies he made.
• Production Posse: Dorothy McGuire, Tommy Kirk, and Kevin Corcoran once again play a mother and two of her sons three years after Old Yeller.
• Troubled Production: Filming on location in Tobago proved troublesome: The production crew had to develop the necessary infrastructure months before filming began; shooting days had to be rescheduled thanks to the frequent rainstorms; two of the actors almost died; and the animals they shipped in proved difficult to control. It was Disney's most expensive live-action feature up to that point, but it turned out to be worth it, as the film became the highest-grossing of 1960.
