Trivia / Stroszek

Go To

  • Actor-Inspired Element: The story was largely based on incidents from Bruno S.' life.
  • Amateur Cast: Most of the regular Germans and Americans in the film are basically playing themselves. Considering the sparse script and improvisational shooting schedule, it's very nearly a documentary.
  • California Doubling: While most of the Wisconsin scenes were shot in Wisconsin, the ending scene was shot at a ski lift in Cherokee, North Carolina. (The building is now a Subway)
  • Hostility on the Set: Werner Herzog invited editor Beate Mainka-Jellinghaus to the set to oversee continuity. Known to highly dislike Herzog's movies (with the exception of Even Dwarfs Started Small), she was so disgusted by the scenes that she started to signal the camera operator to stop shooting. Infuriated by this, Herzog threatened to hit her with a shovel.
