Trivia / Stolen City

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: Downplayed. "Coming Home" is their best known song at present, but it's something of the odd one out because Dave sings lead vocals instead of Sean.
  • The Cast Show Off: Well he is a singer anyway, but Sean's ability to "belt sing" (in Dave's words) was discovered early on - and he jokes that Dave always finds ways to incorporate it into songs he writes.
  • Colbert Bump: The band received a significant boost in notability when Dave was interviewed on Ryan Tubridy about his cancer treatment, and they were later invited to perform on The Late Late Show.
  • Costume Backlash: Dave bleached his hair blond for a very brief period in 2018, dyed it back very quickly, and only mentions it to poke fun at it. He apparently got lots of Eminem comparisons.
  • Creator Couple: Dave's then-girlfriend played his love interest in the "Footsteps" video.
  • One-Take Wonder: The shot in the "Faces" video of Robbie Walsh hitting Jamie O'Herlihy was done perfectly on the first take. If you watch closely, you can see Thomas Sharkey and Bobby Calloway briefly come out of character (as neither of them knew exactly what Robbie would be doing).
  • Production Posse: Ciaran O'Donnell has shot all their videos. Actress and model Megan Bee appeared in their first three as well.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: The video for "Faces" tells the story of a transgender girl. She is played trans actress Jamie O'Herlihy.
  • Real Life Writes the Hairstyle:
    • The girl in the "Faces" video was supposed to be in the process of transitioning, and wear a wig that would get ripped off to humiliate her. Jamie O'Herlihy however had already transitioned and grown her hair out, so this was abandoned.
    • Ian has shorter hair than usual in the "Last Night" video, because he had joined the army beforehand.
    • Dave chose to grow his hair out in 2021, and it grew back curly because of his chemotherapy (which is often referred to as 'the chemo curl').
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: "Sparks" just has a lyric video rather than a music video due to both Dave's cancer diagnosis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
