• Word of God: According to writer Charles Soule, Ren is an Expy of Garth from the prologue in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
• Word of Saint Paul: Matt Martin, a creative executive for Lucasfilm Story Group, has tweeted that the story in issue #1 is not a retcon, that Ben destroyed the Jedi temple, and that theories claiming the story says otherwise are a misinterpretation; theories that Snoke and Palpatine did it are "one way to read it", not the actual story.
