• Word of God: A Reddit AMA led by the creators of Star vs the Forces of Evil answered some questions about the finale:
  • While beings made of magic died as a result of the destruction of magic, creatures that simply had magical attributes just lost those powers. For example, the laser puppies became regular puppies, while Doop Doop went from a sentient broom to a regular one.
  • It was just Earth and Mewni that merged together, not other magical dimensions.
  • Some seemingly magical attributes are actually natural, innate abilities of those characters. For example, Tom has inherent demon powers that allow him to access the Underworld, and Ponyhead is naturally capable of flight.
  • While her dialogue already implied that she wouldn't die from the act, it's confirmed that Janna survived shutting off her pulse, with the paramedics reviving her before Earth and Mewni merged together.
