Trivia / Star Trek: The Next Generation S3E3 "The Survivors"

Go To

  • Enforced Method Acting/Reality Subtext: John Anderson, who played Kevin, lost his wife several weeks before filming the episode, almost turning down the role for that very reason. This is a contributing factor to why the despair in Kevin's confession to Picard and Crusher feels so real.
  • Prop Recycling: The large round window in the Uxbridges' living room previously appeared on the surface of Ramatis III in "Loud As A Whisper".
  • Underage Casting: Both guest stars play characters that are much older than they were in real life at the time of shooting. 67-year-old John Anderson played 85-year-old Kevin Uxbridge and 55-year-old Anne Haney played 82-year-old Rishon Uxbridge. Granted, it was already established in-universe that We Will Have Perfect Health in the Future and that even Humans can easily live well past 100 with the right care. Of course Kevin is really 700,000 years old.
