• What Could Have Been: Much like "Yesterday's Enterprise", this started out as two separate stories; one was about Worf's father being accused of treason, and the second featured Worf discovering that he had a long-lost brother. Michael Piller felt that they were similar enough in nature to be combined into one story.
• You Look Familiar: Charles Cooper (K'mpec) previously played the drunken Klingon general Korrd in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Most of his costume is recycled from that role as well.
