• Cast the Expert: Trained belly-dancer Tania Lemani appeared as the dancer Kara and did her own choreography for the dance routine that occupies most of the character's screen time. While her original outfit was destroyed in a fire five years ago, she still appears in a similar outfit at conventions and so forth. She's written a book about dancing and has a video out showing basic techniques.
• Playing Against Type: The villain of the story is a psychic entity that has been traveling from planet to planet for millennia, feeding of fear, and brutally murdering countless women. His human form, and the voice of the entity itself, is played by John Fiedler. Yes, that John Fiedler. Strangely, there's something even more chilling about a mass-murdering disembodied psychopath speaking with the voice of Piglet. He also played the possibly even meeker character, Mr. Peterson on The Bob Newhart Show. Fiedler would continue to speak fondly of playing this unusual role for the rest of his life.
• Prop Recycling: A large number of costumes are reused from previous episodes in the Argelius bar scene. Some of the extras in the bar are wearing turtleneck uniforms from "The Cage" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Two extras in the bar (one of them is later seen on the foggy street), are wearing the silver cadet uniforms made for the Finnegan character from "Shore Leave". Also, one bar patron (played by regular background performer Joe Paz) is wearing Commissioner Ferris' costume from "The Galileo Seven", and another is wearing a colonist jumpsuit recycled from "The Devil in the Dark".
