Trivia / Snuffy Smith

• Executive Meddling: Sometime in the mid-1990s, Moral Guardians prevailed and made Snuffy give up moonshining. This was around the same time General Halftrack got sent to sensitivity training, and while Halftrack eventually resumed his lecherous ways, Snuffy's still has stayed gone.
• Missing Episode: In 1946 Famous Studios animated Snuffy in the cartoon "Spree For All", an entry in its Noveltoons series. For decades, no copies were known to exist, as King Features is believed to have put a rider in its contract with Paramount mandating the eventual destruction of all copies. In 2022, a black-and-white copy was found put on YouTube, but a cartoon in its original color remains at large.
• Outlived Its Creator: Original artist Billy DeBeck passed away in 1942, and his assistant-turned-successor Fred Lasswell died in 2001, but the strip keeps chugging along.
