• Deleted Scene: The film originally was to feature flashback scenes of Tim before the war, with Neil Hamilton (best known for playing Commissioner Gordon in the '60s Batman series) in the role. A number of such scenes were filmed before the idea was scrapped, although Hamilton can still be glimpsed in photographs.
• Real-Life Relative: Jennifer Jones and Robert Walker were married at the time of production, although they divorced not long after due to Jones's affair with David O. Selznick (whom she would marry a few years later).
• Uncredited Role: Edward F. Cline, Tay Garnett and Selznick himself all directed part of the movie uncredited.
• What Could Have Been: Irene Dunne, Ann Harding, Helen Hayes, and Rosalind Russell were all considered for the role of Anne before it went to Claudette Colbert. Stage access Katharine Cornell also lobbied for the part.
