- Acting in the Dark: Harrison Ford signed onto the series without seeing a script, instead trusting that Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Brian Gallivan would deliver him a good script.
- Dawson Casting: Jimmy’s 17 year old daughter Alice is played by Lukita Maxwell, who was 20 during production of the first season.
- Produced by Cast Member: Jason Segel stars in the show as central character Jimmy, and also co-created the series and serves as a producer.
- Production Posse:
- Producers Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein previously collaborated together on Ted Lasso.
- This is the fourth time Christa Miller has been cast on a Bill Lawrence produced series.
- Neil Flynn shows up in episode nine, having previously worked with Bill Lawrence on Scrubs - and previously appeared with Harrison Ford in The Fugitive and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- Truth in Television: While the idea of a therapist throwing procedure to the winds in the name of helping his patients is not a quirky, cute thing in real life, therapists who have watched the series have said the show IS very accurate when it comes to showing both that everyone grieves on a different timetable, and that therapists are just as in need of emotional support as non-therapists.
- While some may find Jimmy sharing his personal struggles with his patients a wild breach of professionalism, in the right circumstance a therapist sharing their experience CAN be acceptable, helping the client feel seen. However, sharing a current-life crisis, the way Jimmy does, may not be the wisest move.
