  • In Confessions of a Shopaholic, Becky attempts to buy a scarf from an expensive shop but realizes that she has accidentally left her bank card at the office. This results in a frantic afternoon where she scrambles to organize the remainder of her day around making it back to the office to collect her card and then back to the shop so that she can snag the scarf before they close. Nowadays, Becky wouldn’t need the physical card to complete the purchase, as many retailers offer services such as Apple Pay where she could just pay using the smartphone she would likely own.
  • Also from Confessions of a Shopaholic, Becky looks at her overwhelming bank statement and immediately decides that someone must have stolen her card and made several purchases with it, only to realise that can't be the case when she finds her card in her bag. Nowadays, Becky would probably wonder if her card details were stolen online instead.
