- Creator Backlash: Scott Innes responded to the initial trailer on Facebook, saying that Warner Bros. Animation should have hired him back to reprise his role as Scooby and that Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island was successful in the first place because of his advertising on various radio shows at the time.
- Milestone Celebration: The movie celebrates 50 years of the Scooby-Doo franchise, with the digital release being 10 days before the 50th anniversary of the original series (which coincedentally ended up being the date of the 2019 harvest moon - aka, the fated night that the werecat sacrifice ritual takes place). It was also released shortly after the 20th anniversary of the original film.
- Sequel Gap: Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island came out in 1998, with this film releasing in 2019, 21 years after the original.
