Trivia / Sarah Bolger

Go To

  • Ability over Appearance: Christy from In America was written to be a preteen girl. However (see The Pete Best) Jim Sheridan cast Sarah who was ten at the time. This did give us a weird line from Christy's narration about the baby being conceived. Sure a thirteen-year-old knowing about conception is natural - but a ten-year-old?
  • Billing Displacement: In the opening credits for Stormbreaker, she gets first billing (due to the cast being billed in alphabetical order), so she borders on Advertised Extra.
  • Contractual Purity: She's mentioned turning down a couple of scripts containing stuff that was "just a little dodgy", and said she wouldn't do nudity. She was also wary of going to nightclubs in case someone took a picture of her and sparked negative publicity.
  • The Danza: She played the lead character, also named Sarah, in A Good Woman is Hard to Find.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: She dyed her hair red for the film Re-Awakening.
  • Fake American: In The Spiderwick Chronicles. She also uses an American accent to play Princess Aurora. She plays an American nurse in Agent Carter and quite a few other roles. She's skilled enough at the accent that some viewers are surprised to find out that she's really from Ireland.
  • Fake Brit: In The Tudors and Stormbreaker.
  • The Pete Best: It was her sister Emma that auditioned for In America. Sarah had no intention of auditioning at all. Emma however insisted that Jim Sheridan meet her sister. Sheridan immediately cast Sarah after meeting her.
  • Real-Life Relative: She and her sister Emma played sisters Christy and Ariel in In America.
